Mistakes doom young Rebels at regionals
The Rhinelander Post 7 Rebels had a near perfect start to their tournament run last weekend as the hosted the Class AA Region 3 tournament at Stafford Field. The finish, however, was anything but perfect as the Rebels’ hopes of a first state appearance since 2022 went up in smoke.

Three Northwoods bowlers test their skills at Jr. Gold Nationals
Three bowlers from the Northwoods USBC Bowling Association spent the week of July 12-18 competing against the nation’s best at the 2026 Junior Gold Championships, held at multiple bowling centers throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.

Monsters down Whittlesey behind O’Brien’s arm, Schneiders’ bats
The Rhinelander River Monsters assured themselves of at least a .500 regular season record on Wednesday, July 22. Lucas O’Brien struck out five in a complete-game effort and brothers Sam and Joe Schneider combined for seven hits as the Monsters defeated the Whittlesey Reds 10-4 at Stafford Field.

Making her voyage: Rhinelander’s Clark commits to D-II Augustana
Rhinelander senior-to-be Aubryn Clark announced that she has committed to Augustana University, a NCAA Division-II school in Sioux Falls, S.D., to continue her basketball career. Clark announced her decision July 16 via social media.
Rebels win in postseason tune-up over Minocqua
Rhinelander came alive with 10 runs in a three-inning stretch between the third and the fifth and defeated the Minocqua 89ers 11-4 Monday at Stafford Field.
