Hodag girls win, boys 2nd at Eagle Relays

The Hodag girls claimed six events and the overall title while the Hodag boys won seven events and earned a runner-up finish at the Northland Pines Eagle Relays.

The Hodags went into conference play on a high note this past Thursday winning the eight-team Medford Invite at Black River Golf Course. That came on the heels of a fifth-place finish the prior two days in a tournament hosted by Mosinee at Wild Rock Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells.

Hodag baseball splits GNC games against Tomahawk, Lakeland

The Hodag offense was hot on a 70-degree day Wednesday, pounding out 16 hits in a 10-3 victory over Tomahawk at Stafford Field. Two days later, as the thermometer struggled into the lower 40s, the Hodags managed only four hits and were shut out by Lakeland 4-0.

Hodag softball drops pitchers’ duel to Lakeland

Aleece Johnson struck out nine and scattered four hits in a tough-luck loss as the Hodags fell to the T-Birds 1-0 in Minocqua.

The Rhinelander High School boys’ tennis team fell from the ranks of the unbeaten over the weekend while facing some strong Division 1 competition in Stevens Point.

The Hodags swept doubles and picked up close wins in the bottom two singles flights to defeat Lakeland 5-2 in a GNC dual meet.

Mosinee snaps Hodag baseball’s win streak

Reigning GNC-champion Mosinee knocked off the lone remaining unbeaten in the GNC. Zach Nechuta tossed a one-hitter and a three-run first inning was enough for the Indians to get past Rhinelander 5-1 in Mosinee on Tuesday.
