All five of Rhinelander High School's state qualifiers were still in contention following Day 1 of the WIAA Division 1 state wrestling tournament in Madison and two of them were still in the running for a state championship.

Five for fighting
Tyler Olson, Jacob DeMeyer and Alec Kurtz won WIAA Division 1 sectional wrestling titles at Wausau West. They will be joined at the Kohl Center in Madison for this week's state tournament by Reuben Guzik and Colton Krueger, who finished second in their weight classes.

Hodag gymnasts reclaim GNC Small title
The Hodags turned in a score of 119.4 points Saturday to take first place in the Small division at the GNC meet in Wisconsin Rapids, claiming their second division title in three years as a result.

The second-seeded Eagles launched an all-out assault on the Hodag goal in the first period and defeated the Hodags 10-0 in a WIAA regional final at the Eagle River Sports Arena.

Rhinelander clinches share of GNC boys' hoops crown with win over Medford
The Rhinelander Hodags threw their own Mardi Gras party on Fat Tuesday with a 60-46 win over Medford that clinched a share of the Great Northern Conference championship.
