The Rhinelander/Northland Pines Alpine ski and snowboard team entered Monday's Northern Conference finale at the top of both the boys' and girls' skiing standings but, with double points on the line at Granite Peak, the squad could not hold on to win conference titles.

Rhinelander posted two sectional championships and earned seven state-qualifying entries as they finished third in an 11-team WIAA Division 2 sectional Saturday in Hudson.
Howard, Hodags get hot, beat Hortonville
After failing to make a 3-pointer in the first half, the Hodags made eight of them in the second half and rallied past Hortonville 75-67 in a non-conference game with sectional seeding implications.

RHS takes 3rd at wrestling regionals
The Hodags' five ranked seniors all won regional titles and Rhinelander had eight official sectional qualifiers in all as they finished third in a WIAA Division 1 regional at Wisconsin Rapids.
Mosinee downs Hodag hockey in playoff prelude
Mosinee scored three times in a 3 1/2-minute span in the third period to rally past the Hodags 4-3 in the regular season finale at the Rhinelander Ice Arena. The same two teams will play again tonight in Rhinelander in a WIAA regional semifinal.
Lady Hodags down Medford 62-51
The Hodags exploded for 46 second-half points to rally past Medford 62-51 Friday at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
Record breakers
This year's Hodag squad wrote a new page in the history book, defeating East/Merrill 4-0 at the Rhinelander Ice Arena. It was the Hodags 15th win of the season, surpassing the mark of 14 set by the 2008-09 squad.
Kuester shines on senior night for Hodag gymnasts
Stephanie Kuester won all four events, recorded a career-high score in the all-around and the Hodags posted a season-best team score as they knocked off Medford 121.125-106.95.

Hodag swimmers in position for multiple state berths
The Rhinelander High School boys' swim team is all-in on a number of events in today's Division 2 sectional in Hudson and know they have a great chance to send multiple individuals and relays to next Friday's state meet at the UW Natatorium. (subscriber access)
Krueger to play football at Hillsdale College

Streak busted
A Hodag team that has struggled at times to close out tight games did so again Tuesday night, and this time it burned them as Merrill rallied from a 12-point second half deficit to defeat eighth-ranked Rhinelander 63-58 at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
Late goal foils Edge in 3-2 loss to Lakeland
Lakeland's Kailey Godfrey scored on a rebound with 1:32 remaining as the T-Birds defeated the Northern Edge 3-2 in the last home game of the season for the Edge at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.
Back where they belong
The Hodags earned five individual conference championships, and placed in the top three in 11 of the 14 weight classes, as they took the Great Northern Conference title Saturday at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua.
