NPMS students test honeybee hives

Mr. Wilfer's eighth-grade students at Northland Pines Middle School recently completed two different tests to estimate Varroa mite populations within each honeybee hive. Mrs. Simac's fourth-grade class met one of Wilfer's classes out at the hives and learned right alongside the eighth-graders, according to a press release.

College students volunteer at Rhinelander area food pantry

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry. Most are local volunteers that work throughout the year doing all the tasks necessary to allow for the distribution of over 596,000 pounds of food to area families in need.

Northwoods United Way holds successful 'stuff the bus' event

The Northwoods United Way school supply donation event, "Stuff the Bus," took place on from 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 30 in the Rhinelander Walmart parking lot.

Tuition assistance

The Knights of Columbus MacDonald-O'Neill Council 2032 recently donated nearly $6,000 to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School for tuition assistance. The funds are the proceeds of the club's annual smelt fry.
