The city of Rhinelander will host their annual “Fourth of July Fireworks” at dusk on Friday, July 4. Due to the street construction project in and around the Hodag Park area, this year’s fireworks will be launched from Westside Park at dusk.

Newbold town board tables utility ordinance
The Newbold town board at its June 26 meeting decided to table any action with regard to a proposed town ordinance establishing a utility permit policy. Director of public works Mark Fetzer said the proposed ordinance he drafted was done by comparing ordinances from other nearby municipalities.

FORK Extra program partners with Ruby’s Pantry

State Supreme Court strikes down Governor’s partial veto
The Wisconsin Supreme Court unanimously ruled this week that Gov. Tony Evers exceeded his powers by partially vetoing a bill that contained no appropriations, and it also upheld the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee’s ability to put aside and control money for certain programs.

City council extends contract to house hazmat team until 2027
After formally adopting the Oneida County hazardous materials team in January, the Rhinelander City Council voted to extend its contract with Wisconsin Hazardous Materials Response System Services Monday night, which will allow for regional hazmat coverage until 2027.
