La Follette hems in Lady Hodags 59-38
The Hodags shot only 25 percent from the field and committed 21 turnovers Thursday in a 59-38 loss to Madison La Follette in the first game of a holiday tournament at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
Holiday happenings
Three RHS sports teams are taking advantage of the winter break to take part in holiday tournaments, while the RHS boys' basketball team will Waupaca tomorrow night in a one-off non-conference game. (subscriber access)

United Steel Workers Union Local #215, Rhinelander Mill recently made a very generous $500 contribution to the Rhinelander High School dance team for its upcoming trip to compete at DX AmeriCup Nationals in Minneapolis in March of 2018.

Brotherly blowout
Rhinelander started the game on a 19-3 run and got a double-double from senior Owen White as Derek Lemmens' Hodags cruised to a 57-37 win over Nate Lemmens' Warriors Thursday night at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

Lady Hodags can't slow down West in 91-61 loss
Wausau West's dynamic trio of Maddie Schires, Kadie Deaton and Tess Hauer combined for 73 points and the Warriors raced past the Hodags 91-61 Thursday night at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
Hodag swimmers tie Tomahawk
Despite not competing at 100 percent, the Hodags still managed to win six events and swim to an 80-80 tie with the Hatchets Thursday night at the Heck Family Community Pool.
Lakeland's Benson scores four to defeat Hodags 5-1
T-Bird sophomore Bret Benson scored three goals in a 1 minute, 40 second stretch early in the third, and tacked on one more later in the period, as Lakeland stunned the Hodags 5-1 at the Lakeland Ice Arena.
Short-handed RHS gymnasts fend off Lakeland
With both all-arounders and another starter scratched from the lineup, the Hodags still managed to edge Lakeland 107.65-106.55 in a non-conference dual meet Tuesday at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua.
Hodag Nordic opens season at Lakeland Invite
Coach Charil Reis expressed optimism Tuesday as the Rhinelander High School Nordic Ski team competed in the season opening Lakeland Invite at Minocqua Winter Park.
