Anthony Kowalski is the vocal and emotional leader of the two Rhinelander High School sprint relay teams that will take part in the WIAA state meet this weekend in La Crosse. The relationship between he and coach Aaron Kraemer has come a long way to make that happen.
Alexander, Medford silence Hodags in regional semifinal loss
Cade Alexander was nearly flawless for the Raiders, pitching a complete game two-hitter, and Medford used a three-run fourth to get past Rhinelander 3-0 in the WIAA Division 2 regional semifinals Tuesday at Raider Field.
Second life: Young and Oestreich prepare for WIAA state tennis tourney
Rhinelander High School seniors Connor Young and Logan Oestreich thought their season was over following a straight-set loss last Wednesday, but the tables turned for the Hodag duo as the coaches from the Kohler sectional gave Young and Oestreich a special exemption into the state tournament.

Moving on to state
The dream the Rhinelander High School track team's sprinters formed prior to the start of the season was fulfilled Thursday. The Hodags are moving on to state in a pair of relays following a pair of top-four finishes at a WIAA Division 2 sectional meet at Veterans Park in Mosinee.
Rhinelander shuts down Mosinee 3-1 in postseason pitchers' duel
The Hodags took advantage of some shoddy Mosinee defense in the first inning, scoring three runs, and held on behind command pitching performances from Bryce Schickert and Josh Randolph to defeat the Indians 3-1 at City Park in Mosinee in a WIAA regional quarterfinal contest.
Hodags close regular season with a 3-1 win over Pines
Payton Van Zile and Emma Hjelle scored on shots outside the 18-yard box in the first half and the Hodags defeated the Eagles 3-1 to close the regular season in Eagle River.

Soaring to sectionals
The Rhinelander High School boys' track team entered Monday's WIAA Division 2 regional at Lakeland simply looking to send as many athletes as possible to sectionals. The Hodags did that, and picked up a nice bonus along the way.
RHS baseball drops two entering playoffs
The Rhinelander High School baseball team tried to focus on offense early this week going into the postseason. They got offense, just not enough of it, as they closed the regular season with a pair of non-conference losses.

The Hodags advanced top singles player Jacob Weddle and No. 1 doubles team Connor Young and Logan Oestreich out of the subsectional round of the WIAA Division 2 tournament Monday in Minocqua.

The Rhinelander High School golf team posted one of its best rounds of the season Tuesday, but it was not enough for any of the Hodags to advance out of the first round of the WIAA tournament.

A group of senior sprinters has helped lead the Hodags to new heights this season. They have already taken down the school's 4x100- and 4x200-meter relay records and helped Rhinelander claim its first track conference championship in 52 years.
