DeMeyer named first-team All-State

Toward the end of the high school season there were few players hitting the baseball as well as Rhinelander's Jacob DeMeyer, coaches around the state agree. DeMeyer received high level recognition Friday when he was named first-team All-State as an outfielder by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association.

The Rhinelander High School softball team was a difficult squad to figure out during the 2018 season. Consider this - the same team that beat this spring's WIAA Division 3 state runner-up also lost to a team that had not won a conference game in three seasons.

The 2018 Northwoods Summer Passing League kicked off at River Valley Bank Field in Minocqua Thursday, June 14. The five-week league features four area high school, including Rhinelander, participating in 7-on-7 football.

Rebels rally in the sixth, beat Northwoods 3-2

Rhinelander scored twice in the sixth inning and the Rebel pitching staff combined to strike out 15 batters to defeat Northwoods 3-2 at Northland Pines High School.

Franson, Sturzl take home top honors at girls' soccer banquet

Despite a challenging season due to weather and facility issues, the Hodags improved one spot to fifth in the Great Northern Conference boys' track standings, had their first sectional qualifiers in two years and first individual boys conference champions in three years.
