Good games were difficult to come by for the Hodags, who finished the season 2-17 and seemingly had every factor working against them this season.
Hodag football holds contact day
Coach Aaron Kraemer admitted to having some butterflies Thursday as members of the Rhinelander High School football team convened for the first time this summer. For Kraemer, it was his first organized team activity since being named head coach of the program back in April.
Comer strikes out six, collects RBI in return as Rebels edge Minocqua 4-3
Class of 2018 graduate Brad Comer returned to the team, drove in a run and pitched 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to help the Rebels edge Minocqua 4-3 in the Great Northern Legion Conference opener at Lakeland Union High School.

Team review: RHS golf
With only a couple of starters back from last year's squad, the Rhinelander High School golf team did not quite know what to expect this season, and it didn't get a chance to figure out its lineup in preseason, either.
Rebels drop pair to open season
The Rebels had their chances but dropped a pair of one-run games in the Antigo Post 3 invite. Rhinelander fell to New London 3-2 in the opener and to Antigo 5-4 in the nightcap.
Schickert named RHS baseball MVP
Bryce Schickert was a leader on the mound, at the plate and in the clubhouse this spring for the Rhinelander High School baseball team. Not surprisingly, his teammates recognized his contributions.

Marshfield's Nina Hashimoto scored three times and the Hodags failed to convert on several good scoring chances - including a penalty kick - in a 4-0 loss to the Tigers at the RHS soccer fields.

Hoger moving on to play baseball at UW-Superior
Recently-graduated Rhinelander High School senior Martin Hoger already knew he was going to continue his college education at UW-Superior. The opportunity to play his favorite sport came after the fact.

Lawrence ties for second in state high jump
Lawrence tied her personal best of 5 feet, 2 inches, in the high jump at the WIAA state track meet Saturday in La Crosse. It was still good enough to tie for second in the field of 17 competitors.
