JWMS swimmers take third at conference
The James Williams Middle School girls' swim team scored a handful of podium finishes and took third place overall in the 10-team Horace Mann Invite - which served as the Hodags' conference meet - last Saturday in Wausau.
Miljevich wins WVC middle school cross country race
Sophia Miljevich, a seventh-grader on the James Williams Middle School cross country team, was the first runner across the line in the girls' division of the Wisconsin Valley Conference middle school cross country meet held Tuesday at Standing Rocks Park near Stevens Point.

Piasecki out; Ellenbecker to return to RHS wrestling on interim basis
Paul Ellenbecker has been named interim head coach, the School District of Rhinelander announced in a press release issued Wednesday afternoon. He replaces Nathan Piasecki who has been let go by the district, according to activities director Brian Paulson.

The Hodags took a set from Tomahawk, and were more competitive with the Hatchets than in their first meeting of the season, before falling 3-1 at Hatchet Fieldhouse.

A golden opportunity
Roughly 30 swimmers were on hand in Rhinelander Saturday morning to listen to former Olympian Josh Davis, who competed for Team USA in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics and won three gold medals as part of relay teams in the 1996 games in Atlanta.

The Hodags placed fifth in both the boys' and girls' divisions of the 12-team Hatchet Invite in Tomahawk, which served a couple of purposes for Rhinelander down the road.
Hodag volleyball shows fight in GNC tournament
Rhinelander took a set from Antigo, and nearly stole a set from GNC-champion Mosinee, during the event at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua. Rhinelander also suffered a three-set loss to Medford in the competition.

A saintly lift
The Hodags got a pair of goals and an assist from senior Nick St. Pierre, and won back-to-back games for the first time this season, as they defeated Antigo 3-0 at Listle Field on Thursday.
Hodag swimmers nearly perfect in 138-30 rout of Mosinee
First-place Rhinelander dominated last-place Mosinee in a Great Northern Conference swim dual on Thursday and was nearly perfect in the process. Rhinelander swept the top two spots in every race and cruised to a 138-30 win over Mosinee at the Heck Family Community Pool.
