Team review: RHS Nordic skiing
It's been a slow climb back for the RHS Nordic ski team from near extinction five years ago. Slowly the Hodags have rebuilt their program, and during the 2018-19 season, the results began to show.

Spring has sprung?
It seems somewhat counterintuitive with feet of snow on the ground, and a high temperature that struggled to reach the single digits Monday, but the spring sports season has begun. It kicked off at Rhinelander High School Monday afternoon with the first official track and field practice of the year.

Seven RHS gymnasts earn academic all-state honors
On Sunday, seven members of the Rhinelander High School gymnastics team received awards from the Wisconsin High School Gymnastics Association as members of this year's academic all-state team.

Kenedy Van Zile was voted the conference's player of the year and all five Lady Hodag starters were recognized by the conference coaches as the 2018-19 winter All-GNC teams were announced by the conference Saturday.

Wausau East inched away down the stretch to defeat the Hodags 71-65 in the WIAA regional semifinals in Wausau, ending the Hodags' season with their first sub-.500 record since the 2010-11 season.

RHS wins playoff opener
Junior Howard scored a career-high 30 points in his final home game and the Hodags held off a late surge to defeat Shawano 78-65 in a Division 2 regional final at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
Bourciers gear up for another run at state bowling title
Sophomore Mackenzie Bourcier is one of 60 bowlers in the field for the WiHSBC girls' singles state tournament that will get underway tomorrow night in Green Bay. She will be vying for one of 15 spots in Saturday's semifinals, and one of five spots in Sunday's stepladder finals.

The Rhinelander High School dance team finished its season at the DX AmeriCup Nationals in Minneapolis this past weekend.

The Rhinelander High School boys' basketball team has had stellar regular seasons soured by early exits in the WIAA tournament the last few years. Following the Hodags' worst regular season since the start of the decade, the Hodags are hoping to turn the tables with an unlikely tournament run.
