WIAA receives COVID guideline update at September meeting
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Board of Control received reports on a number of membership-related items, including an update of COVID-19 guideline considerations at its September meeting last Friday.

Laggis reaches podium at Smiley
Cal Laggis set a personal best and finished 15th overall in the Division 1 field as the Hodags placed 10th of 22 teams Saturday at the Bill Smiley Invitational in Wausau. Rhinelander was fourth best of 12 teams in the D1 Small classification.
Hodag swimmers sink Lakeland, move to 3-0
The Rhinelander High School girls' swim team had the kick when it mattered Thursday night as it won 10 of 11 events in a 113-46 victory over Lakeland at the Heck Family Community Pool.

After back-to-back losses in Great Northern Conference play, the Rhinelander High School boys' soccer team picked up a needed win Thursday. Braden Mork and Andrew Henrichs each scored twice as the Hodags shut out Antigo 4-0 on a blustery day at Listle Field.

Back on the trails
It has been a long time since the Rhinelander-Northwoods Composite Mountain Bike team, or anyone in the Wisconsin High School Cycling League, has been able to battle wheel to wheel on the trails. That changed this past Sunday as the WHSCL opened its 2021 season at Minooka Park in Waukesha.

The Rhinelander High School girls' tennis team took a major step Tuesday toward unseating Antigo and reclaiming the Great Northern Conference championship crown.
Laggis, Miljevich score wins in Stratford
Senior Cal Laggis and freshman Sophia Miljevich won the boys' and girls' races, and the Hodags claimed the six-team boys' division in Stratford. The Hodag girls, still down a couple of runners, finished third out of five qualifying teams.

The Rhinelander High School girls' swim team was far from full strength on Saturday, but that hardly seemed to matter in its home pool. The Hodags won six events, placed second in three others and won the four-team Hodag Relays at the Heck Family Community Pool.
Hodag tennis downs Wausau Newman 6-1, maintain 12-point GNC lead
For the Rhinelander High School girls' tennis team, it's one main Great Northern Conference rival down and two big conference tests remaining. The Hodags passed their first test Thursday with flying colors, defeating Wausau Newman 6-1 at the RHS tennis courts.
Hodag boys win Ted Voigt Invite
Through three meets, Rhinelander High School boys' cross country teams is establishing itself as a contender in the Great Northern Conference. The Hodags placed five runners in the top 11 on Thursday to win the Ted Voigt Invite hosted by Lakeland at Minocqua Winter Park.
