Hodag girls take 9th at sectionals
An injury-plagued season with a young squad came to an end Saturday for the Rhinelander High School girls' cross country team. The Hodags placed four runners in the top 50 and finished ninth out of 10 qualifying teams at a WIAA Division 2 sectional at The Patriot Golf Club.
Something to prove
Despite an 8-1 record and the No. 8 ranking in the WisSports.net D3 coaches poll, the Hodags find themselves on the road at 7-2 Baraboo tonight to start the WIAA tournament.
Strong bond gives Hodag harriers shot at state meet
The members of the team have formed a bond over the last few years that has already brought them some history and has them on the brink of more entering tomorrow's WIAA Division 2 sectional hosted by Oconto Falls at Patriot Golf Club in Abrams.

The Hodags are the overwhelming favorites to clinch a third straight Great Northern Conference championship tonight when the conference meet takes place. Furthermore, the Hodags have the opportunity to secure that title at home in the Heck Family Community Pool.

Run to greatness
Cal Laggis led six Rhinelander finishers in the top 16 overall as the Hodags won the Great Northern Conference boys' cross country championship at Minocqua Winter Park. Rhinelander finished 18 points ahead of Medford for the conference title - the team's first since its state championship season in 1987.
