Spring practice notebook
The last of the spring sports to begin practice for the upcoming season began on Monday. Rhinelander High School boys' tennis coach Matt Nichols and Hodag golf coach Adam Schmidt expressed one common relief as practice got underway - they're finally able to get back to coaching.

Hodag boys take 6th in Merrill meet
Rhinelander brought a relatively young crew to Merrill on Tuesday, taking sixth out of eight teams in the boys-only Bluejay Indoor Invitational.

Hodag softball takes 2nd in Danny Mac
Rhinelander won its first two games of the season-opening Danny Mac Softball Classic Thursday and Friday at the Hodag Dome before settling for second in its eight-team bracket, falling to Marshfield 10-0 in the championship game.

The Hodags scored a number of top six finishes as they finished third in the boys' division and fourth in the girls' division of the 13-team Oredocker Invite in Ashland.

The Rhinelander High School boys' hockey season ended a couple of rounds short of the team's ultimate goal, a trip to the WIAA state tournament, but it certainly wasn't for a lack of trying.

Coach Nathan Bates took the Rhinelander High School boys' soccer team to the WIAA state tournament last fall. The Hodag girls' soccer team began practice Monday with aspirations of getting him back to Milwaukee this June.
