Ashland blitzes RHS soccer in sectional semis
The Oredockers again scored three times in the first 16 minutes and tacked on one more for good measure before halftime on their way to a 4-1 victory over the Hodags at Ponzio Stadium in the sectional semifinals.
7 Hodags earn GNC soccer honors
Though the season ended for the Rhinelander High School girls' soccer team on Thursday, it found out shortly thereafter that several of its players earned all-Great Northern Conference honors.
Schneider, Ratty voted Hodag baseball MVPs
Junior pitcher/infielder Max Ratty and senior catcher Sam Schneider shared the the RHS baseball team MVP award, which was one of four presented by the team during its season-ending banquet Thursday at Stafford Field.

Manager Dan Huhnstock knows his Rhinelander Post 7 Rebels have a tough act to follow after going 21-5 last season and qualifying for the Class AA American Legion state tournament for the first time since 2012.
Schoppe finishes 99th at WIAA state golf tournament
Schoppe shot 90 on Monday and 100 on Tuesday to finish at 46-over and 99th out of 102 players who played both rounds in the Division 1 field at the Meadow Valley Course at Blackwolf Run.
DeMeyer steps down as RHS softball coach
Coach D.J. DeMeyer announced during Sunday's season-ending banquet that he is stepping down as head coach of the program, effective immediately. DeMeyer, whose daughter Addi was one of three seniors on this year's squad, told the River News following the banquet that the time was right to make a change.
River Monsters score back-to-back wins
The team's pitching depth was tested Saturday night as it edged Tomahawk 7-6 in a non-conference game at Kahle Field. On Sunday, the team flexed its pitching muscle with the front half of the rotation, scattering two hits in a 5-2 win over Whittlesey at Stafford Field.

Addi DeMeyer voted softball MVP, Treder wins 3 awards
On a night when her dad announced he is stepping down as Rhinelander High School softball coach (see related story), senior Addi DeMeyer received the top award from the squad.

The bottom of the order produced for Rhinelander Tuesday night as the Hodags fended off Phillips 10-6 in a Northwoods Babe Ruth Prep League game at Stafford Field.
