Warm and wacky Nordic ski season hits finish line
The Wisconsin Nordic Ski League distance state championship at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead. The Hodag girls were missing three skiers as they took 10th out of 12 complete teams in the field. Due to absences, the Hodag boys didn’t have enough skiers to field a qualifying roster.

The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team capped off a successful 2023-24 campaign with its season-ending awards banquet Sunday afternoon at the Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom.
Hodag Alpine team caps season with banquet

Big numbers, warm weather have Hodag track eager for season
Excitement is high for the Hodag track team, which has seen its numbers continue to boom over the last few years. Coach Aaron Kraemer said more than 110 athletes have registered for the team and more than 90 of them were on hand for Monday’s opening practice.

Several skiers from the Rhinelander area traveled to Hayward Feb. 23-25 to take part in 50th annual American Birkebeiner ski weekend.

Smith makes state gymnastics field as alternate
Rhinelander freshman Alexis Smith left last Friday night’s WIAA Division 2 sectional gymnastics meet in Antigo disappointed that she narrowly missed automatically qualifying for the state meet on vault, but optimistic that a spot in tomorrow’s competition in Wisconsin Rapids might open up for her.
Hodags’ Pearson wins D9 singles tourney
With the benefit of some home cooking, the Hodags took four of the six flights, had seven bowlers place in the money and took home $1,865 worth of scholarships during the three-day event held Feb. 23-25 at Nick’s Hodag Lanes.
