Hodags are back on the gridiron
The fall sports season officially got underway Tuesday as the Rhinelander High School football team hit the field for its first practice.
An eye toward the future
Led by 2026 WIAA state tournament qualifier Cassidy Lindner, the Hodag girls passed the knowledge down to a younger generation Monday night, hosting a youth girls’ wrestling camp at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

ABC set for annual scramble
The Rhinelander Athletic Booster Club is holding its 45th annual golf scramble today, Friday, Aug. 7 at Pinewood Golf Club in Harshaw. More than 120 golfers are scheduled to take part in the event.

WIAA announces spring sportsmanship winners
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, in partnership with Rural Mutual Insurance Company, has selected the team sportsmanship award winners for the 2026 spring state team tournaments.

Kowieski wins WPGA Junior event at Trout Lake
Rhinelander High School senior-to-be Hank Kowieski shot a 5-over round of 76 and earned a two-stroke victory in a Wisconsin PGA Junior Tour event at Trout Lake Golf Club in Arbor Vitae Tuesday, July 21.

Making her voyage: Rhinelander’s Clark commits to D-II Augustana
Rhinelander senior-to-be Aubryn Clark announced that she has committed to Augustana University, a NCAA Division-II school in Sioux Falls, S.D., to continue her basketball career. Clark announced her decision July 16 via social media.

The Rhinelander High School baseball season has been over for roughly six weeks. The challenge for the team has been trying to find a night to celebrate it.
