The Rhinelander High School boys’ wrestling team took nine wrestlers to the southwestern part of the state Saturday, Jan. 17 to compete in the 10-team Ithaca/Weston Invite. The Hodags came home eighth on the day in a field that included a mix of Division 1, 2 and 3 schools.

Mosinee outscored the Hodags 19-6 over the final 5 1/2 minutes and went on to win a battle for first place in the GNC 75-61 at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

The second round between Rhinelander and Mosinee played out much like the first, and that spelled bad news for the Hodag girls’ basketball team. The offense went cold in the second half, and the game devolved into a foul fest late as Mosinee defeated Rhinelander 54-39 in Mosinee on Friday night.
