In the final nine minutes Saturday night against Menomonie if anything could go wrong for the Hodags, it did — whether it was foul disparity, problems protecting the basketball or stopping the Mustangs top player.

Rhinelander finished with a 123.0334 in Friday’s team competition, a couple of points behind sectional champion Waupun. On Saturday, junior Emeline Hintz finished 23rd in the all-around and added an impressive 12th-place finish on the balance beam. Fellow junior Alexis Smith was 19th on the vault and freshman Marsadies Williams took 24th on both the uneven bars and the balance beam.

Leah Nordin scored 26 points, collected 12 rebounds and converted a key three-point play in the final minute as Shawano snuck past Rhinelander 50-47 Thursday, March 5 win a Division 2 sectional semifinal at Sheldon Fieldhouse.

The Rhinelander High School boys’ swim team put a bow on its 2025-26 season with its season-ending banquet Tuesday, March 3. Even though the Hodags had a young squad, devoid of any seniors, the season continued a long run of dominance for the program in the northern half of the state.

Rhinelander High School junior Aubryn Clark was not the Great Northern Conference’s leading scorer, nor did she play on the conference championship team, but a strong argument could be made she was the one player in the conference that drew the most attention from opposing defenses. That fact helped her earn the league’s top honor.

Hodags shut down Pulaski, rally past Marinette to claim first regional title since 2020
Lexi Beran scored off an offensive rebound with 2:26 remaining, and the Hodags erased an 11-point second half deficit to defeat Marinette 47-43 Saturday night, winning the team’s first WIAA regional title since 2020 in the process.

Hodag gymnasts finish 2nd at sectionals, qualify for team state meet for first time since 2005
The Hodags picked the perfect time to have their best performance in more than a decade. Rhinelander scored 127.125 points to finish second at a WIAA Division 2 sectional meet in Antigo. That was good enough to earn Rhinelander a spot in the team portion of the WIAA state meet for just the seventh time in program history — and the first time since 2005.

Rhinelander outlasts Mosinee in double overtime, claims share of GNC title
Devon Feck scored a career-high 33 points, Abe Gretzinger added 19 points and 14 rebounds and Tommy Eades scored four of his six points in double overtime as the Hodags rallied past Mosinee 75-73 on the road Friday night.
