Hodag track hungry for strong showings in La Crosse
With nine entries this year, RHS track coach Andy Wyss said the Hodags aren’t just happy to be in La Crosse this time around. Given that seven of those entries currently seeded inside the top 10 in Division 2, the goal is for the Hodags to prove they belong on the state’s biggest stage.
Hodag softball team hands out awards
The Rhinelander High School softball team closed the book on its 2026 season with a banquet Monday at Mike Webster Stadium. In addition to varsity letters, the team handed out three awards that were voted upon by the players and coaches.

30 entries advance to sectionals
Both the Hodag boys’ and girls’ teams claimed regional titles on a late Tuesday night in Medford. The Hodag girls won eight events, while the Hodag boys claimed five. Each team recorded 15 top-four finishes, which included a ticket to this afternoon’s sectional round in Rice Lake.

The Hodags shot 342 and missed advancing as a team by 20 strokes as they took seventh in a nine-team regional.
River Monsters can’t keep up with Rapids in doubleheader sweep
The Rhinelander River Monsters for the most part had the pitching to keep up with one of the Dairyland League’s top teams in Wisconsin Rapids in a doubleheader Saturday, May 23. The defense and offense weren’t able to match Rapids’ collection of young talent as the Monsters were swept at Stafford Field.
Hodag baseball suffers hiccup in GNC finale
The Rhinelander High School baseball team already had the Great Northern Conference championship trophy in its possession, and had locked up the top seed for the upcoming WIAA tournament, however the Hodags ended the conference season on a sour note Thursday, May 21.
Hodag track closes out regular season, looks ahead to regionals
The Rhinelander High School track team closed out the regular season Thursday, May 21 at the Dale Peterson Invite in Antigo. Despite resting the vast majority of athletes who were part of last week’s Great Northern Conference championship efforts, both the Hodag boys and girls fared well, taking third in the nine-team meet.
