In the afternoon of Nov. 9, 2020, Carl A. Weidling of Sugar Camp passed away peacefully at the Friendly Village Nursing Home. He was 100 years 8 months old. Born in Chicago on March 12, 1920, he was the only child of Julius and Johanna (Scharlach) Weidling. During the Great Depression when he was 14 years old, he had to quit high school to help support his family after his father lost his job due to the Depression.
