The Rhinelander Fire Department made a total of 1,568 ambulance calls for service in 2016, resulting in bills totaling $582,761.26 sent out to either the persons treated, their insurance carriers or Medicaid and Medicare, the city's public safety committee learned Tuesday. (subscriber access)
