Family organizes blood drive in memory of local woman
Most often, blood transfusions are associated with traumatic injuries but they also often extend the lives of those battling cancer and other illnesses.This was the case for Peg Harris. In May 2011, the mother of two was diagnosed with cancer and promptly started chemotherapy. Shortly thereafter she needed her first blood transfusion to continue treatments. (subscriber access)
