More than $1.7M doled out in wolf depredation payments

In 1985, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources paid $200 for two sheep depredated by wolves. In 2014, the Department plans to pay more than $151,000 for 26 calves, 62 missing calves, 15 cattle, 23 hunting hounds, three pets, six deer, and two sheep. (Subscriber access)
