First day on the job

Newly-elected Oneida County District Attorney Mike Schiek took his official oath of office Monday. The oath was administered by Judge Michael Bloom, the county's former district attorney. Schiek wrapped up his work as a defense attorney with the local firm of O'Melia, Schiek & McEldowney last week and decided he was ready to accept an early appointment to his new office. Schiek will be attending a three-day training in Madison this week for newly-elected DAs.
