Rhinelander defeated Wausau National 9-8 on a walkoff single in the sixth by Tommy Eades when play resumed Wednesday and clinched a spot in the Wisconsin state tournament for a second straight year by defeating Wausau National again 10-0 Friday night at Doepke Park in Rib Mountain.

Vince White tossed a four-inning perfect game Wednesday in a 10-0 victory over Antigo and Blake Bauer allowed just one hit Thursday as the Hodags defeated Merrill 7-0 to finish second in a four-team pool at Hodag Park.

Rhinelander lost control of its destiny to win the Northwoods Babe Ruth Prep League Thursday night. Crandon scored twice in the bottom of the sixth, which proved to be the difference as the Cardinals defeated the Hodags 8-6 in a battle for first place at Palmer Park.
