JWMS grapplers win Wausau West tournament
The James Williams Middle School wrestling team traveled to Wausau West High School Saturday, Jan. 18 and took first place in a 20-team tournament. The Hodags scored 92 points, edging Edgar and Athens for the overall title.

Rhinelander Green takes seventh at GNBL Championships
The Rhinelander Basketball Association's eighth-grade boys' green team placed seventh out of 32 teams in the Great Northwest Basketball League tournament, held Jan. 11 and 12 in the greater La Crosse area. The Hodags went 3-4 overall for the weekend.
Rhinelander Swim Club wins home invite
The Rhinelander Swim Club held its annual Freezin' Season Invitational Jan. 11 at the Heck Family Community Pool. Over 300 swimmers from eight teams competed in the event. At the end of the meet Rhinelander swimmers came out on top, capturing the first-place trophy.

The James Williams Middle School wrestling team hosted a Central Wisconsin Wrestling Conference meet Monday at the JWMS gym.

Fifty-four Rhinelander Swim Club swimmers traveled to Phillips Jan. 4 to compete against six other area teams. Even after the holiday break, a number of young swimmers made an impressive start to the second half of the season.
Still a part of the program
Jacob Schmidt sat in the stands at Welsh-Ryan Arena last Thursday night, watching the Northwestern Wildcats basketball team take on the Wisconsin Badgers. Although hailing from Rhinelander where Badger fans are a heavy majority, Schmidt was sporting his Wildcat purple.

RHS alumni basketball tournament sees record participation
Nine teams entered the Rhinelander High School alumni basketball tournament on Saturday. The tournament has become a fun tradition for former Hodags who want to hit the hardwood one more time.
