RHS softball uses twin magic to edge Medford

The Kuester twins - Makayla and Stephanie - both had big outings, one at the plate and one in the pitching circle, as Rhinelander held off Medford for a 5-2 win at Pioneer Park.

John McMurry, in his first varsity start, scattered four hits and outdueled Rhinelander's Brad Comer in a 1-0 victory for the Raiders at Stafford Field.

RHS beats Lakeland, splits games at Denmark

The Hodags played three games over the weekend, defeating Lakeland 15-0 Friday in a Great Northern Conference make-up game at Pioneer Park before splitting games Saturday in a triangular at Denmark. Rhinelander rallied past Kewaunee 5-4 Saturday before losing to the Vikings 12-2 in the second game.

Hodag golfers double down

Rhinelander won back-to-back meets Monday and Tuesday, first winning a triangular at the Irish Course at Whistling Straits Monday in Kohler and then taking the first leg of the GNC tournament Tuesday at Inshalla Country Club in Tomahawk.

The Rhinelander High School boys' tennis team cruised in singles but the Hodags needed some clutch wins in doubles to defeat the Medford Raiders 7-0 and remain perfect in the Great Northern Conference Tuesday in Rhinelander.

The Hodag bats came to life with two outs and routed the Hatchets 13-1 in five innings Tuesday at Kahle Field.
