The Rhinelander High School girls' basketball team continues to rack up wins in Great Northern Conference play. The Hodags raced out to a 36-19 lead at halftime Tuesday and cruised to a 61-46 win over Medford at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

The Rhinelander/Elcho high school club bowling teams returned from their holiday break and opened 2019 on a winning note Sunday at Rose Bowl Lanes in Marshfield.

The Rhinelander High School Nordic ski team continues to pick up speed early in the season. Both the Hodag boys and girls squads finished 10th in the 12-team Ascension Hodag Challenge race held Saturday and Sunday at the Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom.

The Rhinelander High School boys' basketball team took command with a strong second half start, had four players score in double digits and took care of Tomahawk 69-43 at Hatchet Fieldhouse.

Hodag grapplers ninth at Bluejay Challenge
Despite a limited lineup once again, the Rhinelander High School wrestling team placed in the middle of the pack Saturday, taking ninth in the 19-team Bluejay Challenge at Merrill High School.

Back in the pool Thursday, the Rhinelander High School boys' swim team picked up right where it left off prior to the holiday break. The Hodags won 10 of 11 events and cruised to a 99-67 win over the Medford Raiders at Raider Pool.
Tomahawk edges Rhinelander wrestlers 39-30
Luke Knight's first-period pin of Will Swanson at 126 pounds in the last match of the night was the decider as Tomahawk edged Rhinelander 39-30 in a conference dual at the Miazga Gym.

Danny Zuiker scored two power play goals, and the Hodags scored three times with the man advantage overall, in a 4-1 victory over Sheboygan in the championship game of the Rhinelander holiday tournament last Saturday at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.

Sydney Schipper completed a hat trick, tipping in a shot from the point as time expired, and the MSO (Stoughton) co-op Icebergs handed the Northern Edge a 4-3 defeat to end the Hodagland Tournament at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.
