The second time around for the Rhinelander High School softball team against Lakeland went much like the first. The Hodags scored early and often Tuesday afternoon in Minocqua, defeating the Thunderbirds 16-1 in a game that was called after four innings due to the mercy rule.

The Hodags worked through the jitters and started the season with a home-and-home sweep over the Thunderbirds, winning 7-0 Thursday in Minocqua before coming home on Friday to an 11-4 victory.
