Dawn Marie Johnson, age 65 of Sugar Camp, died on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at her home. She was born on July 21, 1961 in Phelps to Raymond and Josephine (Gray) Mayo.
Dawn grew up and attended schools in Eagle River, graduating from Northland Pines High School in 1979. After high school she met Brian Johnson and they were married on July 12, 1986. Dawn was employed by Simpson Electric in Eagle River when she graduated, then worked for U.S. Stick in Rhinelander for 20 plus years, after U.S. Stick she took a job at the ADRC in Rhinelander until her retirement.
Dawn enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, her flowers, and traveling, especially to the Caribbean with her husband. She always enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Dawn is survived by her husband Brian, daughter Randi Johnson of Rhinelander, son Christopher (Tina) Johnson of Farmington, Minn., grandchildren Louis, Chantz, Dawson, and Bailey, sisters Deb (Scott) Varro of Appleton, and Donna (Randy) Schneider of Conover, brothers Dave (Kimberly) Mayo of Eagle River, and Dale Mayo of Eagle River, other family and many friends.
She Was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation for Dawn will be held on Friday September 18, 2026 at the Carlson Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. You may leave your private condolences for the Johnson family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the family.
