Thomas Gunnar Bernsteen, age 63, Green Bay, died on October 3, 2026, in Green Bay. He was born on November 8, 1962, the son of Gunnar and Nelda (Forsman) Bernsteen. He graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1981 and went on to major in marketing at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1986. Tom spent more than three decades as a sales professional and manager for specialty paper companies including Wausau Paper and Glassine Canada.
Tom grew up loving all things related to being out on the lake and being outside. He loved boating, waterskiing, driving, golfing, traveling, spending time with his children and grandchildren, listening to music, and watching movies.
As a longtime resident of Green Bay, Tom was a loyal Packers fan and loved watching the games either at Lambeau or at home. Tom was known by his loved ones for his humor, protectiveness, and determination. He died peacefully in the early hours of October 3, 2026, after a day filled with visits from his three children, son in law, daughter in law, sister, and brother in law.
Tom was a beloved father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his daughter Kristen (Sam), daughter Emily (Jack), son Robert (Christine), sister Susie (Tim), and his four grandchildren, Emma, Gus, Nellie, and Anna, as well as several lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Nelda, and his father, Gunnar. Tom will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Tom will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, with memorial services following at noon, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Forest Home Cemetery.
