Valerie Jean Oberg-Bishop, 62, of the Town of Pine Lake, passed away peacefully with her family at her side after battling COPD.
She was born in Milwaukee on October 9, 1963, to Robert and Mary J. (Pilch) Oberg. She attended grade school in Milwaukee. The family moved to Phillips, Wisconsin, where Valerie graduated from Phillips High School in 1981. She married Paul; and the couple were blessed with three children. They later divorced. She met her future husband, Mike Bishop, while working. The couple married on April 1, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and celebrated 26 years of marriage this year. Valerie worked at various businesses in Eagle River and Rhinelander.
Her main hobbies were painting and art. She enjoyed traveling, especially out west to Yellowstone and South Dakota, as well as trips to casinos.
Valerie is survived by her loving husband Mike, daughter Mallory, son Kyle, stepdaughters Jessica, Michelle (Mike), April, and daughter-in-law Ashley, sisters Pamela and Kimberly, brother Sam, best friends Laureen and Dan, grandchildren Caitlin, Emma, Collin, Olivia, Cyrus, Lain, McKennen, Degan, Adeline, Autumn, Kaiden, Shaylin, Britney, Troy, Alli, Gage, and Ian, and her four-legged Golden Doodle companion, “Henry.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Oberg, son Ridge, and stepdaughter Addie.
A Celebration of Valerie’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2 until 6 p.m. at her home located at 4440 County C, Rhinelander. Please bring a favorite picture of Valerie to share.
