Matt James Gilman

Matt James Gilman, age 61, of Rhinelander, passed away on September 28, 2026. After battling a combination of multiple diseases, he peacefully passed away in his sleep.

Matt was born on June 15, 1965, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He retired from the State of Wisconsin after 25 years of service.

Matt enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially spending time golfing. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed the time he spent with all the people he met over the years. He also had a special place in his heart for his cat, whom he lovingly cared for and cherished.

Matt was preceded in death by his mother, Barb Kelly; stepfather, Dallas Kelly; His sister, Carla Toney; his brother, Mike Gilman.

Matt will be remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be missed for the memories he created the time he shared with those close to him, and the love and care he showed for those and the animals that were important to him.

Though he is no longer with us, Matt’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. There will be no funeral services per Matt’s wishes, in lieu of gifts or flowers, please make a donation to the Rhinelander humane society, in Matt’s name.
