Ronald Alden Swenson, age 61, of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2026 following a brief, aggressive battle with cancer under the care of Aspirus at Home Hospice. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born on February 27, 1965 in Rhinelander to Wayne and Julia “Cookie” (Lunde) Swenson along with his twin brother, Raymond. One of six children, Ron spent his early years living in Brantwood before his family moved to Rhinelander where he remained throughout his life and raised his own family. Ron married Kelly Ort in 1989 and together they had two children, Shanda and Shania.
Ron spent many years working at ABX, Wayne Nasi Construction, and Marplex. He really enjoyed working with his hands and spending time outdoors. He loved fishing on the lake, woodworking, using his WoodMizer sawmill, spending time in his shack, wood burning, and painting rocks. He also enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially his four grandchildren. He had the best time fishing with his grandson, Joey, this past summer.
Before his passing, Ron was able to gather with family and friends for a celebration of his life. His favorite part of the day was seeing his grandchildren swimming in the lake. He spent his final days surrounded by those he loved, including his dogs, Mabel and Alfie, and his cat, Hope. Ron also received the sacraments of the Catholic Church before his passing.
Ron is survived by his wife, Kelly; daughters, Shanda (Jon Brux) and Shania (boyfriend Jeff Orley); grandchildren, Rhea, Joseph (Joey), Lucy, and Grace; and siblings, Evie and Raymond as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Julia Swenson, and siblings Roger, Deborah, and Robert.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
