Vivian E. Jamison, 98, of Rhinelander, passed away on May 16, 2026, at Pride Therapy and Living Center in Weston. She was born on January 27, 1928, in Winter, to Peter and Elida (Nygaard) Canestorp.
Vivian attended schools in Winter and Eau Claire. She married Nevin Jamison on May 19, 1951, in Madison. The couple moved to Rhinelander in 1953. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and participated in numerous church activities.
From January 1971 to September 1972, Vivian was employed as a secretary for the Oneida County Juvenile Court. She later worked for the Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for 14 years, retiring on August 1, 1986.
Some of Vivian’s favorite pastimes included reading, sewing, and creating family history diaries and records for her grandchildren. In 2011, she moved to an assisted living community in Wausau.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Jane) Jamison and Russ (Kathy) Jamison; four grandchildren, Jenny Jamison, Drew Jamison, Katie Whittenberg, and Abby Ruppel; and eight great-grandchildren, Nevin, Louis, Georgia, and Carolyn Jamison; Leah and Ellie Whittenberg; and Henrik and Ingrid Ruppel.
Visitation for Vivian will be held on Monday, July 6, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with memorial services following at 11 a.m., all at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
