Sigward V. Watten, 84, passed away on May 22, 2026, in Rhinelander. He was born on June 13, 1941, to Ticy Lutes and Sigward Watten in Tomahawk.
Sig was a very hard worker. He worked in the junkyard at a young age with his stepfather, George Hanson. In his later years he helped build bridges, worked for UPS, owned a café and began investing into properties. Dad’s effort in properties allowed him to build an expansive property portfolio.
His hard work afforded him to have many adventures in his life. He earned his pilot's license and flew his plane for many years. He and his good friend, Luke Schunk spent lots of hours on this hobby. He also got to go to Africa to hunt exotic animals. Sig traveled to several exotic destinations to scuba dive; his other passion in life.
Sig is survived by his children: Sons – Sigward V. Watten III, and Shawn V. Watten and wife, Darlene. Daughters - lila Buresh and husband, Tim, Melissa Anderson, son-in-law, Ryan Wicklander, and his sister, Sally Bushor. Eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, his caregiver Jan Smith, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sig is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Wicklander, his parents, his brother, Fred Watten; and sister, Sue Warner.
Our dad will be missed by many, and we will miss his contagious smile.

Dad’s favorite place to be, was in his plane flying high and looking down and scuba diving in crystal clear waters.
