Edward Alan Wambold, age 86, passed away on May 20, 2026, at his residence in Waunakee. He was born on October 21, 1939, in Appleton to parents Edward and Cornelia (Lloyd) Wambold. Edward married Carol C. Radant on June 24, 1961, at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Wausau. He lived most of his life in Wisconsin Rapids, Rhinelander and Sarasota, Florida with his wife Carol. Edward graduated from Mosinee High School in 1957. He then went on to Michigan Technological University to earn a degree in Civil Engineering where he was a member of the Kappa Delta Psi fraternity. He was employed as an engineer with the Los Angeles County Flood Control District. He moved his family back to Wisconsin for a job with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation designing and building bridges and highways, where he worked until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed golfing (making a hole-in-one in Sarasota, Florida), bowling, coaching youth hockey and cruising on his pontoon around the lake. He particularly enjoyed putting on Fourth of July fireworks shows for his grandchildren and they loved his root beer floats. Above all, he cherished time with his family and friends at Squash Lake and Sarasota, Florida. He truly dedicated his life to his family and his generosity and love for them knew no bounds. Edward is survived by his wife Carol of 65 years; three sons Alan (Heather), Wayne (Jennifer), and John (Andrea); eleven grandchildren Nathaniel, Elisabeth, Sara (Phillip), Scott (Alyssa), Kellie (Scott), Hannah (Jerry), Ammon, Grant (Rachel), Esther, Sophia, and Rachel; nine great grandchildren; sister Charlotte Nowinski and brother-in-law Al Radant; and many other family members. Edward was preceded in death by his parents. A special thank you to Agrace Hospice for their wonderful care of Edward.
