Demmer Library has a wealth of offerings

The Demmer Memorial Library in Three Lakes is happy to share its programming for the upcoming week.

• On Wednesday May 27 at 1 p.m. in the Maple Room the library continues its series “Find Your Passion, Find Your Joy.” The series highlights hobbies and special interests and how to start them. This month’s program features gardening, with a panel of special guests.

• The Three Lakes Center for the Arts, the Demmer Library, the Three Lakes Historical Society and Museum, and the Three Lakes Foundation invite you to the first showing in their America 250 movie series. A free viewing of the movie “National Treasure” will be shown at the Three Lakes Center for the Arts on Wednesday, May 27, at 7:30 p.m. Kyle McMahon from the Three Lakes Historical Society will give a brief introduction.

• Want to keep your brain sharp this year? The Demmer is offering Scrabble drop-in play Thursday, May 28 at 1 p.m. Come down to the Demmer fireplace area and play Scrabble with other community members.

• The Demmer Library is proud to be in its fourth year of plant swapping fun. On Saturday May 30 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., the library will host a plant swap with the Three Lakes Lions SCRAPPERS Club co-hosting.  Take a plant, leave a plant. You didn’t bring a plant?  No problem. The plant swap will be a fun event for everyone, with plants donated by Moody Root Farms and The Little Dipper in Three Lakes.

• Starting Monday, June 2, the library will host a weekly American Mahjong club from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Demmer Northwoods area. Want to learn? A beginner’s class will be offered the second Tuesday of the month in June, July and August.  Registration is required for the beginner’s class. Space is limited.

Weekly Offerings

Have you started looking at your family tree and don’t know where to go next? Let the Three Lakes Genealogical Society help you. The group loves to assist new, novice, and expert family sleuths find more records and more answers to questions. They are offering active “office hours” on Thursdays, 2 to 4 p.m., in library’s local history room where you can drop in and ask your questions. Call the library for more details.
