Ride for Peanuts marks 20th year on June 13
The 20th Annual Ride for Peanuts, sponsored by the District 11 American Legion Riders Association of Wisconsin, is scheduled for Saturday, June 13. The event will be held rain or shine.
According to a press release, the ride is open to all participants, who may take part on motorcycles or in other vehicles. A $10 donation per person per ride sheet is required.
Registration runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Northwoods Harley-Davidson in Arbor Vitae. The approximately 81‑mile route includes six stops where participants must have their sheets stamped. Stops include the Veterans Resource Center in Eagle River; bars; and Camp American Legion in Lake Tomahawk. The ride concludes at 5 p.m. in Harshaw. Completed forms must be turned in by 5 p.m. the same day.
Event organizers state that proceeds benefit Camp American Legion, helping purchase peanuts for campers to feed chipmunks and supporting additional veterans programs.
Camp American Legion is described as the only veterans camp in the United States where veterans and their families may attend at no cost. The release encourages community participation to “help make memories that last a lifetime for the veterans that visit Camp American Legion.”
Raffles and door prizes for participants begin at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Jim Sprague at 715-277-4938.
