Rezny elevated to Rhinelander police sergeant
After a morning of interviewing candidates in closed session Tuesday, May 12, the Rhinelander Police & Fire Commission has selected Ryan Rezny for promotion to the position of police sergeant.
Rezny, who has been with the Rhinelander Police Department from 2003-2005 and then 2011 to present, serving with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office for two of the years in between, was chosen from among three candidates.
In the open portion of the meeting, the agenda was amended to include an update from Rhinelander Fire Chief Adam “A.J.” Johnson.
Johnson reported that applications are being received from qualified candidates for the city’s Assistant Fire Chief position, which has an application deadline of May 15.
“If it is a number that we feel is doable for all of us on the commission, we would like to see all of the applications,” said commission chairman Todd McEldowney. “If we have six or seven or more than that, we would probably want you to go through and recommend the top four or five that we would then look at, and then we as a commission can determine what we want to do from there.”
Johnson also told the commission that the fire department’s most recent hire, Jeret Boehm, began the orientation process last week and is doing “fantastic.”
The date of the next meeting of the commission has not yet been decided.
