No surprises in SDR school board’s reorganization

A swift six minutes in length, the School District of Rhinelander school board’s reorganizational meeting May 11, held at Rhinelander High School’s Professional Development Center, was a solid endorsement for keeping on keepin’ on.

Mike Roberts, Merlin Van Buren and Duane Frey, incumbents who had smooth sailing back to the board in last month’s Spring Election, took their ceremonial oath of office to complete their return trips.

The board’s election of officers resulted in a continuation of the past year’s leadership: president Ron Counter, vice-president Judy Conlin, clerk Mary Peterson and treasurer Mike Roberts, with SDR executive assistant Shelley Anderson returning as deputy clerk. 

Committee members are also all reprising their roles. “Most people are happy with their committee assignments and it’s working right now, so I see no reason to change it,” explained Counter.

Those committees are:

• Capital Projects Ad Hoc Committee: Mike Roberts (chair), Merlin Van Buren, Duane Frye.

• Disciplinary Appeals Committee: Mary Peterson (chair), Ronald Lueneburg, Merlin Van Buren, Kurt Helke.

• Employee Relations Committee: Duane Frye (chair), Judy Conlin, Kurt Helke.

• Instruction and Accountability Committee: Judy Conlin (chair), Mary Peterson, Patricia Townsend.

• Operations and Strategic Planning Committee: Mike Roberts (chair), Ronald Lueneburg, Merlin Van Buren.

This month’s regular meeting of the School District of Rhinelander will be held Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m. in the Superior Diesel Advanced Learning Center at Rhinelander High School.
