A Lake Tomahawk man arrested a seventh time for operating while intoxicated (OWI) had his bond set by Oneida County judge Mary Sowinski during his initial court appearance Monday.
Robert Alan Nevoraski, who turned 58 years old on May 10, was arrested just after midnight on May 11 during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 51 south of the junction with County Highway L.
According to the report from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, a sheriff’s deputy observed the southbound vehicle Nevoraski was driving, which was registered to another individual, strike barricades that had been set up for the current closure of Hwy. 51.
Sowinski set Nevoraski’s bond at $100,000 and scheduled his next court date for June 8.
If ultimately convicted of the seventh OWI charge, Nevoraski could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines or both.
According to the report filed by the sheriff’s office, this will be the fourth time Nevoraski has been arrested for OWI in Oneida County; his very first OWI arrest occurred in Kenosha County in August of 1990 and his second was also in Kenosha County in 1994.
His first Oneida County OWI arrest was in November of 1997 and he was convicted for that charge in February of 1998.
Nevoraski was arrested a fourth time for OWI in Vilas County in June of 1998 and convicted in November of that year.
Prior to his May 11 arrest for OWI, Nevoraski’s next arrests for OWI in Oneida County were in August of 2003 and July of 2014.
