Annabelle Trembath
Annabelle Trembath, age 99-3/4, of Rhinelander, passed away on May 7, 2026. She was born on September 7, 1926 in Ironwood, Mich. to Stephen and Margaret (Schutte) Yelacich. She married her high school sweetheart Donald Trembath when he returned from the war in the Pacific on July 31, 1948. Annabelle put Don through forestry school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis/St Paul. They lived and worked in Superior and Duluth and moved to Rhinelander in 1963.
Annabelle was active in Nativity of our Lord Church, as a member of the Choir and the Executive Board. She was an early breast cancer survivor and spent 34 years driving to meet other cancer patients in their homes to help them understand the disease, their possible options and to give them hope as part of the American Cancer Society’s Reach to Recovery Program. She was a volunteer at the James Beck Cancer Center, a member of PEO, and enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends.
Annabelle is survived by her daughter Rebecca Trembath (husband Mark Nienstaedt), her son Christopher Trembath, her grandchildren Jayson, Jamie, Stephanie and Ryan; and her great-grandchildren Marybelle, Madeline and Luca.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Father Chris Kemp will officiate. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Northwoods National Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Trembath family at www.carlsonfh.com.
