JWMS track sweeps home invite

The James Williams Middle School track team swept the boys’ and girls’ divisions of a 14-team invitational held Monday, May 4 at Mike Webster Stadium. 

The Hodag boys won eight events as they beat runner-up Three Lakes by a whopping 73 1/2 points. Tyson Fischer and Hans Sommer were both three-event winners for the Hodags. Fischer won the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash, Sommer took the 800 and the pole vault, and both were on the winning 4x400 team with Jayden Negron and Jett Goffe. Mason Fawley added wins in the 200 hurdles and the long jump and the Hodags were victorious in the 4x800 with Dawson Ruetz, Jacob MacFarland, Coltyn Anderson and Liam Johnson.

Olivia Eades and Isabelle Gray were three-event winners on the girls’ side as the Hodags won seven events overall. Eades took the 100 and the triple jump, Gray swept the 100 hurdles and the 200 hurdles, and both were on the winning 4x100 squad with Scarlet Hartmann and Kelsie Skubal. Eva White added a win in the long jump and Helen Beuning took the pole vault.

Middle school soccer

The James Williams Middle School girls’ soccer teams took on P.J. Jacobs (Stevens Point) Junior High School Monday, May 4 in front of Rhinelander High School.

Spring Swing Tournament

The Rhinelander Youth Baseball and Softball organization held a pair of Spring Swing youth baseball tournaments in the Hodag Dome April 17-19 and April 24-25. Not only did Hodag teams participate in the event, proceeds went to benefit the organization.
