Carol Lynn Fleury, 86, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Rhinelander at Milestone Senior Living under their care and Moments Hospice. Carol was born on January 13, 1940, to Harry and Sylvia (Lewis) Walkowski in Rhinelander. She attended Rhinelander schools. She married John (Jack) Fleury, Jr., on March 8, 1958, in Rhinelander.

Carol was an active member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. She taught CCD, was an RCIA catechist, and participated in the mass as a reader and minister of holy communion.

Carol loved to read and had an extensive library with over 3,000 books, consisting of various topics, and she could often be found with her nose in a book.

She enjoyed gardening and spent many hours in summer designing and creating her perfect outdoor haven.

Carol was very creative. She made quilts, did embroidery, and was an excellent seamstress who made fashionable clothing for her children and grandchildren. Carol had a lasting friendship with a wonderful group of fellow crafters who met regularly for over 50 years.

Carol was truly in her element when decorating her home for the holidays. She made the holidays special and created lasting memories and traditions for her children.

One of Carol’s greatest joys was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She provided them with many happy experiences, like Last Day of Summer Camp out and New Year’s Eve sleepovers, that created lifelong memories for them.

Carol is survived by her children: Mike (Paula) Fleury, Mary (Pete) Taylor, Rita Adkins, Joan (Brian) Ehmann, Betsy (Tom) Littleton, Kathy Fleury-Nylund, and a son-in-law, Mike Savage; her grandchildren: Jamie, Amanda, John, Jennifer, Jessica, Amy, Ashley, Aaron, Adam, Ben, Samantha, Dakota, Amelia, Hunter, Maddie, and 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by her sister, Sue Roberts, and brother, Bob (Kay) Walkowski, as well as nieces, nephews, and craft group friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Amy Savage, her brothers, James and Greg Walkowski, her nephew, Adam Fleury, and niece, Marcia Walkowski.

The visitation for Carol will be held on Saturday, May 16, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service. Dn. Ray Ambrosius will officiate.

Immediately following the service, there will be a procession to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery for the committal service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
