Land survey underway for OVTC facility
A Weston-based firm is in the process of surveying a four acre parcel of land owned by Oneida County in the town of Pelican that could very well be the next location of a new vehicle storage, shop and office facility for Northwoods Transit Connections (NTC).
The parcel is part of 40 acres of land the county has and has offered to the Oneida Vilas Transit Commission (OVTC), which oversees NTC.
The OVTC approved a $3,430 contract with Riverside Surveying during its March 20 meeting.
There were three bids and NTC director Barb Newman said the firm “was the least expensive.”
The company’s Chris Fieri is who will be working on the survey and Newman said she’s “comfortable” with the commission’s decision to approve the contract with Riverside Surveying.
“He (Fieri) is familiar with the county’s land information office,” she said. “The reason we saw his name is they (Riverside Surveying) were doing some work in town ... I know they know Rhinelander.”
Newman said the survey work is to be complete by May 22.
