April events galore are on the way for adults and teens at the Rhinelander District Library

The Rhinelander District Library Adult Department has a full roster of events this April. From tech help to poetry, there's something for everyone!

• Make a stunning Pressed Flower Lantern with RDL staff on Thursday, April 9, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the library meeting room. These spring crafts add a romantic glow to any space. All supplies needed to create your own jar will be provided. Registration opens on March 26 with 15 spaces available. This craft requires delicate use of paint brushes and tweezers. Ages 18+.

• Celebrate National Poetry Month by learning how to make Blackout Poetry with RDL staff on Friday, April 10, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the library meeting room. Blackout poetry is a form of poetry created by selecting words from an existing text and covering the rest with an artistic design. This event is open to teens and adults — no registration required! All supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own texts or supplies if you have ideas.

• Join Michele for a Soap-Making class on Wednesday, April 15, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the library meeting room. Each participant will take home their own handcrafted bar of soap made from all-natural ingredients. All supplies will be provided. Registration opens on April 1 with 16 spaces available. Ages 18+.

• Checkmate! RDL’s all-ages monthly Chess Club returns on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the library meeting room. Chess Club is open to all ages and levels of experience. Chess sets are provided. Learn to play or find a game!

• Do you like plants but don't have a green thumb? Or maybe you like no mess and no fuss. Either way, RDL has you covered with a Beaded Succulent Class on Wednesday, April 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the library meeting room. Create your own forever plant with beads and wire. Everything needed to complete one potted succulent plant will be provided. There are over 300 beads in this project, so fine motor skills will be put to the test. Registration opens April 8 with 16 spaces available. Ages 18+.

• The Rhinelander District Library presents Laptop 101 on Thursday, April 23, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the library meeting room. Laptop 101 is a simple introduction to using your Windows-based laptop with confidence. Deb from Help Desk Next Door will walk you through essential skills like navigating the internet, managing files, and completing everyday tasks. This beginner class is relaxed, easy to follow, and perfect for anyone who wants to feel more comfortable with their laptop. Space is limited to 10 people so everyone has a chance to get hands-on practice. Bring your laptop! Registration opens on April 9; call the library at 715-365-1070 ext. 2 to register.

• Can’t get enough of crafting? Drop by RDL’s Drop-in Crafting event on Wednesday, April 29, from 12 to 4 p.m. in the library meeting room. Choose from one of the provided craft kits or bring something to work on! This is a self-guided event, so guests can stop in any time between 12 and 4. Ages 18+.

• Join RDL staff and make your own edible, one-of-a-kind creation in Cake Art & Coffee on Thursday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the library meeting room. Learn techniques to create cake art, enjoy some iced coffee, and chat with your fellow artists. Registration is required due to limited supplies. Registration opens on April 16 with 12 spaces available. Ages 18+.

These, and all Rhinelander District Library programs, are free and open to the public. For more information, please call the Rhinelander District Library at 715-365-1070 or visit www.rhinelanderlibrary.org.
