RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, March 24
Track: RHS girls 2nd/8, boys 4th/8, Ashland Invite
The Rhinelander High School track team competed with closer to a full lineup on Tuesday as it took second in the girls’ division and fourth in the boys’ division of the Oredocker Large School Invite in Ashland on Tuesday.
The Hodag girls won four events on the night. Aila Bergman claimed the 55-meter hurdles, Kara Monk won the 1,600-meter run, Macy Myers and Emeline Hintz went 1-2 in the pole vault and Libbey Buchmann and Jalyn Zadnik went 1-2 in the shot put. Freshman Marsadies Williams added a runner-up showing in the long jump and the Hodags were second in the 4x400 with the squad of Bergman, Monk, Addison Fish and Ellie Cummings.
Rhinelander scored two wins on the boys’ side. Avrom Barr claimed the 1,600 while Ayden Myers was tops in the pole vault. The Hodags finished second in the 4x800 relay with the team of Jackson Weinzatl, Jonathan Campbell, Paul Denis and Dean Gillingham.
The Hodags are back in action Thursday as they travel to Northland Pines for an indoor meet.
