According to the accident report filed by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, a 2002 Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle (SUV) driven by Madeline List, 19, Tomahawk, was eastbound on Hwy. 8 the morning of March 18 when she was cutoff by another SUV and slowed down.
While she was slowing her vehicle down, it began to fishtail across the ice-covered road and struck a westbound 2017 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Kyle Johnson, 59, Rhinelander south of the intersection with Birch Bay Road.
Johnson said he saw List’s vehicle with the other SUV “very close in front of it” and then saw it begin to fishtail.
He said he pulled his truck, with a snowplow mounted on its front and pulling an enclosed utility trailer, over onto the shoulder which is where it was when the List vehicle hit his F-250.
Both drivers were examined at the scene by ambulance personnel.
List was taken to a hospital via private vehicle.
