Six juniors in the School District of Rhinelander’s Youth Apprenticeship program had the opportunity to visit the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison on Wednesday, March 11, for Youth Apprenticeship Day at the Capitol.
Students heard from keynote speakers, met with state leaders to discuss the importance of youth apprenticeships, and networked with others from across the state. Opportunities like this highlight the impact of a program funded by the state of Wisconsin that allows students to gain valuable workplace experience while still in high school.
“Our students did a fantastic job representing the School District of Rhinelander and their employers!” said Lexi Allen, the district’s youth apprenticeship coordinator.
“A big thank you to CrossTrac Equipment, Dahlquist Heating & Cooling, Ponsse North America, Rhinelander Toyota, Ripco Credit Union, and CD Smith Construction for creating these opportunities for our students. And thank you to Ms. Marcy (Eckrich) for being the best chaperone!”
If anyone has any questions about offering youth apprenticeship in their workplace, please contact Allen at [email protected].
